Wade Ormsby will step in for Phil Mickelson at LIV Golf Hong Kong next weekend while the latter continues to deal with an undisclosed family health matter, HyFlyers FC announced on Sunday.
Mickelson revealed on Feb. 1 that he planned to miss the first two events of LIV’s season in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Adelaide, Australia, respectively. Ollie Schniederjans replaced Mickelson in the first event, while the Australian Ormsby stepped up in Adelaide.
Mickelson, 55, will now sit out the event in Hong Kong beginning on Thursday.
“We are excited to have Wade join the team again in Hong Kong as he steps in for Phil,” HyFlyers FC wrote on X. “As a two-time winner of The Hong Kong Open, Wade brings a great deal of familiarity to Hong Kong Golf Club.”
Mickelson has won six major championships, including the Masters three times. He won the 2021 PGA Championship at age 50 that came with the added perk of a five-year U.S. Open exemption.
