Israeli Commandos Raid Lebanon as Iran Threatens ‘Crushing Response’
Rockets fired from Lebanon wounded 11 people in central Israel on Saturday after one struck a house in the town of Tira. Israeli emergency services confirmed the injuries were caused by shrapnel. Resident Qasim Mohab described the chaotic scene: “We went out and saw dust, children screaming, women screaming, and everyone went to the house that was struck. We were able to evacuate and rescue those who were inside the house, and thank God there were no fatalities.”
Around the same time, the Lebanese group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting a military base on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. The Israeli military reported continued rocket fire and drone attacks from Lebanon, with air raid sirens sounding in northern Israel.
This comes a day after Israeli naval commandos conducted a raid in northern Lebanon, capturing one individual, according to Lebanese journalist Hasan Illaik. Over 25 soldiers reportedly arrived on the coast of Batroun, south of Tripoli, raided a beachside chalet, detained a person, and departed via speedboats. Lebanese security officials are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei threatened Israel and the United States with a “crushing response” over attacks on Iran and its allies. Iranian officials have been increasingly vocal about launching another strike against Israel following its October 26 attack on Iran, which targeted military bases and killed at least five people.
“The enemies, whether the Zionist regime or the United States of America, will definitely receive a crushing response to what they are doing to Iran and the Iranian nation and to the resistance front,” Khamenei said in a video released by state media. He did not elaborate on the timing or scope of the threatened response.
