President Donald Trump is planning a visit to Montana as part of a 10-state swing in the final runup to the Nov. 3 election.

Montana’s western congressional district contest between Trump-backed Republican Aaron Flint and Democrat Sam Forstag, both first-time candidates, appears neck-and-neck, according to multiple polls released in recent weeks. Flint told the Montana State News Bureau he is using that dead-heat narrative as fuel for his campaign furnace, while Forstag said the polling shows his campaign approach has traction in a state that’s trended red in recent cycles.

In the U.S. Senate race, Republican Kurt Alme, also endorsed by Trump, faces a much clearer path to victory as independent Seth Bodnar and Democrat Alani Bankhead currently divide the anti-GOP vote.

The eastern congressional district contest is not widely expected to be competitive; Republican U.S. Rep. Troy Downing is running for reelection against Democrat Brian Miller and independent Michael Eisenhauer, neither of whom are in striking distance, according to recent polls.
