Houthis Claim Missile, Drone Attacks on Riyadh, Aramco Facility in Yanbu

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis claimed responsibility Saturday for missile and drone attacks targeting sensitive sites in Riyadh and an Aramco facility in Yanbu, hours after a fire was extinguished at a fuel depot near the Saudi capital’s King Khalid International Airport.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones in the attacks.
“Two special military operations were carried out: the first operation was directed against sensitive sites in Riyadh, while the second was directed against the Aramco facility in Yanbu,” Saree said.
Saudi authorities had warned residents overnight of a “hostile aerial threat,” while air raid sirens sounded in Riyadh and Al-Kharj.
“The area is under a hostile aerial threat,” a message sent to Riyadh residents said, urging them to remain indoors, according to AFP.
AFP journalists reported hearing two explosions before Saudi Civil Defense lifted the warning about half an hour later. No casualties or major damage were reported.
Firefighters also extinguished a blaze at a fuel depot near King Khalid International Airport. The Houthi statement claiming the attacks was posted on Telegram hours later.
Saree said the Houthis would continue their campaign against Saudi Arabia, linking further attacks to the conflict involving the group.
“The forces of Yemen remain committed to enforcing the equation of ‘siege for siege’ and ‘escalation for escalation,’ and to striking the enemy Saudi force concentrations, until the aggression stops and the siege is lifted from our country,” he said.
The attacks came days after Riyadh accused the Houthis of targeting the holy city of Mecca.
Tensions have also increased around the Bab el Mandeb Strait following recent Houthi advances in the area. The strategic waterway has become another focus of the escalating conflict involving Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
