BREAKING: Israel and Hamas Reach Ceasefire Deal, Announcement Imminent
By Simcha Pasko/The Media Line
An Israeli official confirmed to the Times of Israel on Wednesday that a ceasefire and hostage deal has been reached between Israel and Hamas, adding to multiple reports that the two sides have finalized an agreement. A senior Arab diplomat familiar with the negotiations revealed that the US, Qatar, and Egypt will shortly issue a joint statement officially announcing the deal. Following this, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is set to hold a press conference in Doha to provide further details.
Following the Times of Israel announcement, US President-elect Donald Trump posted his Truth Social app: “WE HAVE A DEAL FOR THE HOSTAGES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THEY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY. THANK YOU!”
Earlier, Barak Ravid, an Axios reporter citing a US official, announced on social media platform X that the deal had been finalized, although he did not provide further details. Shortly afterward, a US official and an Arab official confirmed to The Times of Israel that the two sides have indeed struck a deal, which includes a truce and an exchange of hostages held in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody. According to the Arab source, a formal announcement is expected within hours.
Hamas says it has formally responded to the proposal but has not clarified whether it has accepted or rejected the terms. In a statement released Wednesday, the group’s political wing in Doha indicated it had replied “responsibly” to the ceasefire and hostage exchange outline. No further elaboration was provided.
